Arccosecant

Pronunciation: /ɑɹk.koʊˈsi.kænt/ Explain
Abbreviations: acsc, arccsc

A right triangle. One of the angles that is not the right angle is labeled 'theta'. The side opposite theta is labeled 'opposite'. The side opposite the right angle is labeled 'hypotenuse'. Underneath the figure is the equation 'csc^(-1)(hypotenuse/opposite) = theta'.

An arccosecant is an angle whose cosecant is a particular value. Arccosecant is often abbreviated as csc-1. The arccosecant is a trigonometric function. The arccosecant is the functional inverse of the cosecant. If hypotenuse/opposite = csc(θ) then csc-1(hypotenuse/opposite) = θ. Arccosecant is written arccsc or csc-1.

Definition: y = csc-1 x if and only if x = csc y.
