Pronunciation: /ˌhɔr.əˈzɒn.tl/ Explain

A horizontal line segment, a vertical line segment, and a slant line segment.

A geometric figure is horizontal if it goes from left to right or right to left. One way to remember is that the horizon is horizontal. The x-axis in a Cartesian coordinate system is conventionally horizontal.
