Condition

Pronunciation: /kənˈdɪ.ʃən/ Explain

A condition is statement that must be true for a given statement or theorem to hold.[2] In the math statement 'y = 1/x, x ≠ 0', the inequality x ≠ 0 is a condition that must hold for the statement y = 1/x to be true. Notice that, in this case, 1 is being divided by x. Since division by zero is undefined, x can not be zero, hence x ≠ 0.

A statement is conditional statement if its truth depends on a condition.
