A cosecant is defined to be the multiplicative inverse of sine.[2] In right triangle trigonometry, the cosecant is equal to the length of the hypotenuse divided by the length of the side opposite the angle.

The arccosecant is the functional inverse of cosecant. The arccosecent is denoted arccsc() or csc-1().
