Expression
Pronunciation: /ɪkˈsprɛ.ʃən/ Explain
An expression is a set of
variables,
numbers,
operators,
parenthesis
and
functions
without any
equal sign
or
inequalities
that has mathematical meaning. Examples of expressions include:
5x + 2
x2 - 2x + 3
(a + 3)(a - 3)
Examples of mathematical formulas that are not an expression are:
t = 4
0 = x2 - 4x
+ 2
x + 5 ≤ 37
