Operand

Pronunciation: /ˈɒ.pəˌrænd/ Explain
In a+b, a and b are operator, and + is an operator.
In a*b, a and b are operator, and * is an operator.

An operand is the input to an operator. An operand is something on which an operation is performed. In the expression a + b, '+' is an operator, and a and b are its operands.

An operator can be considered as a function and the operands as the inputs or independent variables of the function.
