Algebraic means having to do with algebra, or using the operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and exponentiation.[1]

  • An algebraic expression is an expression that uses the operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and exponentiation.
  • An algebraic equation equates algebraic expressions.
  • An algebraic function is a function whose rule is an algebraic expression.
  • An algebraic identity is an algebraic equation that is true for all values of the variables, such as (x + y)(xy) = x2 - y2.
  • An algebraic number is a number that is a root of a polynomial with rational coefficients.
  • An algebraic operation is one of the following operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and exponentiation.
  • An algebraic representation is a representation that uses algebra such as a coordinate graph.
